Hello, all. As you consider your career and your “public persona” I’d like to share with you some information that recently appeared in a blog by Katherine Simmons, CEO of NetShare.com. “This new survey polled 1,200 consumers and 1,200 hiring managers and recruiters in the United States and the United Kingdom. According to the findings, only 15 percent of consumers believe that information found online will have any impact on their getting a job. The reality is that 79 percent of hiring managers are searching for information about candidates online, and 70 percent of those hiring have rejected candidates based on what they have found. So if you think what you post on your blog or your Facebook page or your Twitter feed doesn’t matter, think again.” So, go our there and search yourself and take a look at the image you are presenting. If you don’t like it, do what you can to fix it. Also, start your own marketing campaign about your self. Get yourself out there on the internet in a positive note. Here are some things you can do: - Post positive and informative information on Twitter (those posts stay on the internet). - write a book review on Amazon - add comments to a popular person’s blog You can manage the image you want people to have of you, especially future employers. So get busy and make sure you are not being sabbotaged by the social media. I’m here to help today, so please post. Coach Edie |
