I have a problem in which i cant fall to sleep because i cant stop thinking, however the problem is when i finally fall to sleep my mind is half awake and half asleep. Meaning that i sleep while conscious, even if im sleeping i feel like my mind is still awake and thinking about something. My mind is never relaxed its always thinking about something even when im sleeping, which results in me getting very tired during the day. |

Hi Someone, how are you today? A racing mind at night can be exhausting! Let’s see if we can work through this. Do you have a ritual before you go to bed to unwind? When your mind races, what are the specific thoughts? Does your mind race during the day? Are you having trouble concentrating? If you could get a good night’s rest what would change in your life? I look forward to hearing back. Warmly, Nova |

Getting a good night sleep is very important for your health, concentration, and energy level. Studies show that having a ritual before you go to bed helps you fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly. I would encourage you to start one! First, identify environmental elements that are soothing and calming for you. Scents, Sounds, Colors. Some people find the smells of lavender and vanilla calming. I personally love jasmine. You can get sprays, candles, flowers, bath salts, etc. Sound is important. Music soothes us. Think of putting a baby to sleep … there’s usually some kind of lullabye music. Adults need soothing at the end of the day too! So begin your ritual in the evening with some type of activity that gets your heart rate up. Like going for a walk or jog after dinner. This increase in blood flow will help to let out the last bits of restlessness from the day. Then 30 minutes before you go to bed, start your “soothing” ritual. Tell yourself, it’s time to unwind and think only of being peaceful. Save anything thoughts or worries for tomorrow. Be completely in the present. Add in the elements that are soothing. Take a bath with your favorite scents, read quietly with a candle glowing, and have calming music playing softly in the background. ahhh … sounds nice just writing it! It’s also very helpful to learn progressive relaxation to focus on relaxing your body and mind. Here’s an introduction you can begin with: http://stepstonesforlife.com/blog/2009/10/18/re… Let me know if you think this will help! Warmly, Nova |
