FBN Submissions Guidelines

As of April 17, 2009

Submissions Guidelines:

Thank you for your interest in submitting an article to FBN. We value original contributions from knowledgeable professionals. Below are our guidelines. Before submitting any materials to FBN, please review them carefully and submit all materials at once. Materials that do not meet our submissions criteria will be deleted unopened.

  • Articles must be your own original work. Copying and pasting information printed elsewhere on the web, or plagiarizing text from a textbook or journal and passing it off as original work is illegal. If the work is yours, and was previously printed elsewhere, you must demonstrate that you own reprint rights.
  • You must be a registered FBN member to submit an article.
  • Submissions must be in electronic format, with a .doc file name.
  • Articles must be in Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri 12-point font.
  • Articles must be at least 500 words in length. If your submission doesn’t meet length criteria, it might be more effective as a post in one of our forums. Forums aren’t just for people with questions, they’re for people with answers, too.
  • Most articles will be posted to a category in our Mental Health Library. Please indicate which category your article fits in. Your article may fit in more than one category, or you can suggest a new one. Current categories are:
    • Abuse
    • ADD/ADHD
    • Addiction
    • Anxiety
    • Autism
    • Bipolar Disorder
    • Bullying
    • Careers
    • Caregivers (Dementia, Alzheimer’s, etc.)
    • Depression
    • Financial Stress
    • Medications
    • Mental Health Dictionary
    • OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)
    • Panic Disorder
    • Parenting
    • PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)
    • Relationships
    • Teens
  • We strongly prefer articles written by professionals—therapists, psychologists, counselors, psychiatrists, coaches, and social workers, who, with the exception of coaches, are licensed to practice in their fields. Please indicate in your submission how you are qualified to discuss the subject(s) in your article.
  • We do not publish fiction or poetry under any circumstances.
  • We prefer articles that are clearly written, well-organized, and free of typos or erroneous information, and urge you to submit only your best work. We reserve the right to edit submissions for length and clarity.
  • By submitting an article, you grant the Feel Better Network the right to upload it to any part of the site, rotate it on any page, and use it for promotional purposes.
  • You will receive author credit for the article and we can include a link from the article to your professional listing on FBN to thank you and promote your practice. We do not currently offer monetary compensation for articles.
  • Feel Better Network is not responsible for any damages to you resulting from your submission or the information or advice contained therein. By submitting work to Feel Better Network, you thereby release Feel Better Network and its affiliates from all liability resulting from your submission.

Submission Materials

In order for your submission to be considered complete, please review that you have included the following in your e-mail:

  • Your FBN user name.
  • A statement that the article is your own original work.
  • An indication of where, if at all, the work has been previously published, and if so, an explanation detailing your reprint rights.
  • A brief explanation of your credentials.
  • The article attached with a .doc file name.

If you have questions about submitting an article, please contact our Editorial Director, Jesse Rutherford, at jrutherford@feelbetternetwork.com or (949)716-7885. Someone will respond within 2 business days.
